MCV-South Africa was founded in 2007. Acquiring the famous De Haan’s bus factory was a major step to reach new horizons for South Africa and the Southern African region. MCV is a large corporation, employing more than 6000 workers globally, producing more than six thousand vehicles every year from their factories across the world. MCV is fully committed to South Africa and has shown this by investing into the economy, by means of job creation and localisation of material.
The knowledge and expertise of MCV and De Haan’s history allowed the company to rapidly expand. Improved production methods and product development, allowed higher productivity and constantly increasing quality levels. The introduction of the city vehicle range, a robust and reliable city vehicle expanded the market share into the urban market. These units are produced in large quantities for municipalities across South Africa
By 2011, the semi luxury bus branded Challenger Superior was upgraded to S140. During the same period, the bus branded Destiny was given a complete over haul, and re-introduced into the market as the S125. These designs showcase the excellence achieved by combining decades of knowledge of the South African requirements, with the international design expertise that MCV offers. MCV at this stage introduced the commuter S121 to the market, which has proven to be most durable and cost effective commuter bus in the market
The company is continuously evolving and improving, making use of the best international industry knowledge and has a vision of becoming the largest bus manufacturer in South Africa. MCV-SA products are designed and built in Africa for the African market.
